 ORGANOGENESIS"๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป



Organogenesis includes the formation of specific organ-systems of body from three primary germ layers of gastrula. It is an important phase of embryonic development and involves both morphogenesis and differentiation. Different organs of embryo's body are formed during different periods of pregnancy.

 * Period of Pregnancy --๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

1. By the end of one month :-- Embryo's heart begins to beat (4th week) and heart sounds can be listened with the help of a stethoscope, Fore and hind limb buds are formed, optic vesicles and ear vesicles are established; Liver and pancreatic buds formed.

2. By the end of second month:Limbs become paddle-like (5th week) while elbows and knees established (8th week); epidermis single layered; mamumary line is established; Pharyngeal arches start developing: Nasal pits, pinna tubercles, solid lens of eye and eye lids established; Fusiform stomach and intestinal coils start developing; Metanephros kidneys established; Brain vesicles and corpus striatum formed .

3. By the end of third month (First trimester):--
Major organ-systems are established eg., epidermis multilayered, intestinal coils in abdominal cavity, islets of Langerhans developed in pancreas, Thymus, thyroid and parathyroids developed, external genitalia and limbs well developed; prostate gland formation starts, Cerebellum and corpus callosum formed
4. By the end of fourth month:--Medullated nerve fibres formation begins, etc

5. By the end of fifth month :--First movements of foetus noticed; eruption of hair on head begins; vagina is canalised, etc.

6. By the end of sixth month (Second trimester):--Fine hair on whole body of foetus; separation of eye lids and formation of eye lashes; etc
7. By the end of eighth month :-Testes descend in the scrotal sacs .

8. By the end of ninth month : --Foetus is fully developed and is ready for birth.
